Wild Wing - A Wild Time - Somewhat

Kurt deserves a bunch of credit for this as we would not have gotten a table for the hockey game if he had not gotten there early. The Canada game was great to watch and good TV coverage in this place. Lots of people and few servers but it was ok because ours was awesome. They have different wing deals on different days as well as mixing it with beer as well. Wild Wing is a chain so I imagine that all of them are fairly similar at least with their 100 flavors and with the décor and consistency. This place is easy to get to on the subway so ideal for a meeting location of people coming from different areas. Here we go let’s get at it.

Wing Quality 4/5 – I really enjoyed them. I had 2 different types. #1 was Mustang Ranch which was under their Hot N’ Exotic menu and was Spicy Mustard and Ranch flavored. This was great because it was a nice mix between the kick from the mustard and the smoothness of the ranch. This was a 4 out of 6 on the heat meter and was pretty much the perfect spice for me. They were crisp while a little saucy and kept the hands messy. After the 2nd period I got my second 1.5 lbs of wings and these were under the Hot N’ Bothered section called Red Dirt Road. These were made up of Franks Chili Heat and Creole Mustard. These were a little less spicy and a little more hot sauce flavored. I did not like them as much as the first but they had a better ration between crisp and saucy than the first. The deal on Tuesday here is 1.5 lbs for the price of 1 lb which is 10 bucks. Decent price and good wings with over 100 selection. I also had one of the Maple BBQ and do not get maple on your wings ever. Trust me

Sides and Extras 2/5- The Chilli Cheese Fries were not great but they were ok as I was very hungry waiting for the rest of our party. And there were no sides that came directly with the wings. Would have liked some veggies.

Beer 3.5/5 – Decent choices and lots of options for sizes with mini pitchers also available. Cheaper than normal and was perfect for the situation. I also like how all the prices were laid out in the menu which a lot of places do not do. It allows you to pick your poison before the server comes over

Service 5/5 – He was awesome. Kurt scooped up our original seats but she was paramount in securing a second table for our spill over (4 more people showed up that we did not expect). We asked her to come back for second round of wings at the 2nd intermission and she was right there. Gave good advice and got everything promptly. Also one of the more friendly servers I have had. Top notch.

Overall 4/5 – Great night. Good wings, good beer, great hockey and good friends. Couldn’t ask for more. I would for sure come back here for the same experience. It was pretty complete but the only thing I would change would be to get some sides in there.

To start off, I will indicate that I am a guest blogger and will write whenever I come out or whenever the hell I feel like it. Also, it should be known that I recently frequented this exact location for lunch and in my burger I found what looked like either a wet nap or some sort of plastic wrapping.

Despite a previously horrendous experience at this bar, I must say that the wing night was quite solid. Our server was absolutely amazing and held down the fort in a pretty chaotic and cramped environment.

There were plenty of TV's, all playing the only thing that mattered.

The beer was good (mini pitcher was a good deal).

As for the wings, despite all of the different flavours, there was enough of a difference in each selection to justify the numerous options. I picked some sort of spicy-sweet-mustard combination that turned out to be very good; I think it had some sort of phallic name like the pale rail.

In terms of random entertainment, there was a few homeless people who walked in to check the score of the game. All in all, I will give a score of 3.75 out of 5.

Let it be known that no plastic wrapping was found in anyones wings, and the only plastic wrap needed was that to shield everyone one from the orgasmic explosion of flavours that was my wing selection- the pale rail (i think).

Wild Wing - College/Yonge St.

Very small place and luckily I came through and saved the day by getting there early and reserving a spot for us. First impressions, service was amazing and our waitress may have been the nicest server I've experienced. The TV situation was excellent as we were surrounded by at least three 40 in flat screens showcasing the Olympic games. To top it off, I made a beauty of a bet when I bet Duncan 5$ Canada wouldn't score 15 on Norway. Needless to say, I was correct --by far.

The wing selection was very good. There had to have been over 100 wing sauces to choose from. However, I'm very cautious when going to places like this because I find many of the sauces are very very similar. I mean...come on...it's not like they have thousands of bottles of wing sauce in the back. They simply add a few ingredients to certain sauces to alter them slightly. Although the various wings did taste different from one another, I'm not the kind of guy that gets off on eating hundreds of flavours. I'd rather just have a saucy wing that burns my mouth off with heat.

To the scorecard

WING QUALITY 3.5/5 -- Pretty good texture with a bit of crunch. Although I like my wings to be extremely saucy. These were more of a fried wing with limited sauce. I also didn't like how they poured ranch all of the wings if you asked for ranch sauce. That was pretty strange.

Sides and Extras 1/5 -- No celery or veggies of any kind, no dipping sauce provided.

Beer 3/5 -- They had a solid selection and from what I remember, the prices were slightly lower than I've come to expect in this overpriced, over-taxed city.

Service 5/5 -- Waitress was a sweetheart and really helped us out when we had to accommodate some unexpected guests.

OVERALL - 3.5/5 -- NO sides and extras, and the wings not being HOT at all dropped the overall score. Service was outstanding and the environment was solid. However, don't sit under the palm tree because it flashes green lights on you throughout the night. It's really distracting.

Chick N' Deli

The Chick N' Deli. What more can I say. I had never eaten there but thought to myself that a place that had chicken spelt so uniquely might have some good wings. We walked in and the place was pretty empty. They have wing "special"s from Sunday to Tuesday but they aren't too great. 2 or 3 bucks off is not a great deal. We decided that it would be hilarious to come back to this place for a night and have some drinks. But for now we will go for the wings. Here we go....

Wing Quality 3/5 - I liked them. They were in the same style as St. Louis and Bistro on Avenue with the sauce basically cooked right into the wing. The wings were too small for my liking though you got a good amount with about 12 wings per pound. The medium was a decent spice but they could have had a little more kick. I would say that the deal was not worth it but the quality was decent.

Sides and Extras 2.5/5- Onion rings were pretty standard. Not great and not bad. decent celery and I was pretty glad that it came with ranch sauce right off the bat.

Beer 2.5/5 - Standard. Nothing special and no real good deals.

Service 3/5 - Liked our waiter. He was pretty good but it took a while for him to come and get our order. I'll give him some credit as I think he might have been the only guy working.

Overall 3/5 - This was an enjoyable night and decent food but nothing to write home about. If I was at this place I might get the wings but I wouldn't go there specifically for the wings. There are for sure better places to spend your wing money but if you end up there try them out.

Chick N Deli

It's always pleasing to enter a restaurant with 20 open tables because you know you'll be seated immediately. Then again, why are there 20 open tables? hmmmm

This week's wing stop was a trip to Chick n Deli off Eglinton on Mt. Pleasant. Very easy to get to and very low key. This I like...

Service was decent and the TV situation was wonderful depending on seat location.

All and all there isn't much to talk about here so let's get to the score card.

WING QUALITY 2/5 - Very very small -- that's what she said -- no really, these wings were very small and slightly overcooked. Still tasty, but I didn't feel like I received a good amount for the price I paid. I don't like feeling like I got ripped off and I definitely felt that way leaving this place. Wings that small probably cost .20 each and they were selling them for about .80. Not happy with that. The Good...They came in a basket and were fairly sauced up. However, I ordered the "suicide" wings which left plenty to be desired. Not hoping to go back anytime soon.

Sides and Extras 3/5- Came with a side, ranch, and that's a good thing. Would have like a selection of ranch, dill and blue cheese though.

BEER 3/5 Nothing special, about what you'd expect.

SERVICE 2/5 I felt bad for the guy because he seemed to be working alone. However, he was very slow to take our order...like 15 min slow. When he did take our order he took them with memorization which always amazes me. Nothing special here either though.

Overall Experience 2.5/5 I wouldn't go back here for wings. For the amount we received and the size of the wings it isn't even comparable to Bistro, or St. Louis Wings....Do Not Go Here for Wings....I ended up paying like 32 bucks for 20 wings and 1 beer.

Chick N' Deli

Has anyone heard of the Chick N' Deli? Well I have and it has been around for years. Have anyone ever thought of going there for chicken? or just cougars? Well you are in luck. This Tuesday we are heading to this infamous place and you will get the feedback right here. Cluck Cluck.

Wild Wings Sports Pub

I am the last one to review this which is probably something that will always happen because Duncan does this at work and Kurt works from home half the time. Anyways, this is by far the worst wing place I've been to in recent memory.

The wings were meh, the atmosphere was strange, the handful of other people in the bar were sketchy. One girl came up to our table to ask one of us to dance with her while a song by 'The Cranberries' was being played on the speakers (who dances to The Cranberries?), after being thrown under the bus by my fellow diners I quickly declined her offer. Besides, she really just wanted one of us to buy her a drink. Then she was later involved in the argument with the waitress.

Anyways on to the ratings:

Wing Quality: 2/5 - This place alleges to have 100 flavours of wings, I will not go back to try all 100 flavours but I can guarantee there are some flavours that are the same just named differently. I ordered 52. Cajun Barbecue and 72. Creamy Garlic Spiced Up (I was being adventurous by trying something a bit strange). Anyways, the waitress screwed up my order and brought out 57. Maple Barbecue, so when I told her it was not what I ordered she eventually took it back. She brought out all the other wings (on plates!?) then she brought out my Cajun Barbecue wings about 3 minutes later (not enough time to cook more wings). So when I finally did eat them they were cold and just tasted like barbecue, there was no hint of maple or cajun. One plus was that #72. was actually pretty good. 7 wings was a very small portion though.

Sides and Extras: 0/5 - what sides?

Beer: 4/5 - We weren't given an option of which beer to have she just brought us mystery pints so that was strange but it was very cheap and not bad. I also drank 3 of them because Kurt had an upset tummy.

Service: 2/5 - Screwed up my order when no one else was in the bar and didn't tell us what the beer was, she was nice enough though and she gets a sympathy point for having to deal with assholes.

Overall Experience: 1/5 - It's a rarity for us to go out on wing night and not have to wait for a seat or at least be elbows to elbows with the next table so that's a plus. But the wings were fairly weak and the atmosphere was sad, it felt like we were sitting in the house of someone you don't really know. Only go here if you want cheap mystery beer and A LOT of personal space.
